Strasbourg have this afternoon announced that manager Julien Stéphan has been suspended of his duties – a preliminary procedure before his outright dismissal – with assistant coach Mathieu Le Scornet now taking charge on an interim basis.
A poor start to the season has seen the Alsatians slump to 19th place midway through the campaign, with just one win all year – fewer than anyone else – coming at the start of October.
The young coach arrived from Rennes at the start of last season and guided the club to an impressive 6th-place finish – narrowly missing out on European competition – and was expected to kick on this year having held on to the core of his squad and important players.
However, Stéphan, who notably won the Coupe de France in Brittany during his first season in senior management in 2019, has instead overseen a dramatic loss of form which has now cost him his position.
