Arsenal fans were ecstatic for Laurent Koscielny, who scored for the first time since his long lay-off.
The Frenchman was ruled out for six months towards the tail end of last season after sustaining an ankle injury and missed out on taking part in his nation’s World Cup triumph.
The Gunners beat Chelsea 2-0 in the London derby and Koscielny netted their second goal – with his shoulder – after a lovely ball from Sokratis.
And Arsenal fans couldn’t hide how pleased they were for their captain, who beamed with delight as he celebrated with his team-mates.
One fan wrote: “Great game by Koscielny. That goal is a reward for the pain he had to endure over this past few months. And yet some Arsenal fans have written him off.”
While another posted: “Pleased for Koscielny to get that goal after his long injury lay off.”
The win for Unai Emery’s side has blown the race for the top four wide open, as both Arsenal and Manchester United are now just three points behind Chelsea.
Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s high-flying Manchester United continued their winning streak earlier with a 2-1 win over Brighton.
