Don\u2019t judge people until you know what they are going through. That\u2019s the big lesson a father in Houston, Texas learned after confronting his son\u2019s bully.<\/p>\n
Recently, Aubrey Fontenot\u00a0learned that his son, Jordan, was being bullied by a 13-year-old child at his school named Tamarion.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Fontenot approached Tamarion, who said he was being bullied, too.<\/p>\n
\u201cWho is picking on you?\u201d Fontenot asked. \u201cAll the other kids, they make fun of me.\u201d Teachers at the boys\u2019 school admitted that Tamarion\u2019s family was\u00a0struggling but couldn\u2019t give any details.<\/p>\n
Fontenot called Tamarion\u2019s mother and learned they were homeless and had recently moved into a hotel. The other kids at Tamarion\u2019s school bullied\u00a0him because he didn\u2019t have\u00a0clean clothes.<\/p>\n
So Fontenot decided to take Tamarion shopping.<\/p>\n
\nAlong their journey, Fontenot not only bought the child some new clothes but took the time to teach Tamarion about self-respect and dignity. When they got home, Fontenot tried to squash the beef between his son and Tamarion. \u201cI said we need to settle stuff like men,\u201d Fontenot told KHOU.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The boys soon began talking and sparked up a friendship.<\/p>\n
\nFontenot\u2019s shopping video\u00a0soon went viral, amassing over 282,000 likes and 91,000 retweets. So he used his newfound viral fame for good and set up a GoFundMe page to help Tamarion\u2019s family get back on their feet.\u00a0<\/p>\n
What began with a $7,000 goal has eclipsed it by nearly $20,000.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nWhile Fontenot\u2019s efforts will go along way towards helping the struggling family, the experience gave him something valuable, too. \u201cIt taught me something. I was angry at first, then I said let me try something different,\u201d Aubrey said. \u201cWe have no clue what these children are going thru these days because a lot of us just don\u2019t care,\u201d Fontenot wrote on the GoFundMe page.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Luckily, for Tamarion and his family, there are still some people who do.\u00a0<\/p>\n
