\nWWE SmackDown Live GM Daniel Bryan recently took part in a Q&A with Yahoo! Sports to promote this Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view in Brooklyn, New York. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.<\/p>\n
On if returning on the road with WWE as the SmackDown Live GM has helped or hurt the itch he has to get in the ring and wrestle:<\/p>\n
\n“It\u2019s kind of hurt it. It\u2019s not the traveling part of it \u2026 I was doing OK, right. I was like, OK, this isn\u2019t my jam anymore, I can\u2019t do this. Until they had me sit out by ringside for a couple of matches and it\u2019s just like, c\u2019mon, I\u2019m ready to go. That\u2019s the hard part. Or when I go out to the arena and get such a great reaction. That\u2019s when I want to wrestle.”<\/I><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
On the biggest challenge he has in his other WWE gig as one of the announcers of the Cruiserweight Classic:<\/p>\n
\n“For me, it\u2019s trying to keep my voice up. So [last] Wednesday, there was an amazing match between Cedric Alexander and Kota Ibushi. We filmed three tapings in a row that day and that was the main event of the first taping. I was so excited calling the match that I lost my voice completely and then I had to do two more hours of calling matches.<\/I><\/p>\n
“Mauro [Ranallo] is great because he\u2019s trained to do that. My voice isn\u2019t trained for it. I can only talk for so long before my voice just goes out. That\u2019s been the hard part but the \u201cCruiserweight Classic\u201d has been a blast.”<\/I><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
On if he feels the growing number of “smaller wrestlers” in WWE is a result of his past success as a top guy:<\/p>\n
\n“No, I think it was a natural evolution. I think what\u2019s happened is there\u2019s so many hours of TV that\u2019s put out there that people who are more exciting in the ring are going to be the ones that become more popular. Because of \u201cRAW\u201d being there hours and \u201cSmackDown\u201d two hours, there has to be more matches and longer matches. Smaller wrestlers are built for more exciting matches.”<\/I><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
