The former presidential candidate will appear as the\u00a0featured guest for\u00a0Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam at a\u00a0New York fundraiser next Wednesday, according to an invitation.<\/p>\n

Northam will face\u00a0Republican Ed Gillespie in the general election in November.<\/p>\n
Clinton won Virginia, one\u00a0of the two states with gubernatorial races this year, in\u00a0the 2016 presidential election.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Voters’ opinions about Trump will be\u00a0a weighty factor in\u00a0the election,\u00a0according a\u00a0poll\u00a0released Tuesday\u00a0by the Wason Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University.<\/p>\n
The survey found that 39 percent of Virginia voters in the poll said Trump\u00a0will play a role in their choice between Northam and Gillespie, while 28 percent said the president is a major factor. The president, however, was a much stronger factor for Democrats expecting to vote\u00a0than for Republicans.<\/p>\n
