Jurgen Klopp will not \u201cclose the door\u201d on the possibility of Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Georginio Wijnaldum featuring against Crystal Palace on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The pair both picked up knocks in the 1-0 win at Brighton last weekend, although managed to complete the full 90 minutes at the Amex Stadium.<\/p>\n
He said: “Georginio Wijnaldum and Trent Alexander-Arnold we will decide day-by-day.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe exceptional part of that story is that they both played 90 minutes [at Brighton].<\/p>\n
\u201cThe whole world saw what happened to Trent \u2013 what a boy, unbelievable. \u201c<\/p>\n
He continued: \u201cWe played the game and afterwards we got the information that he had [an injury].<\/p>\n
\u201cNothing happened during the game, it was all stable and good.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was just what happened before the game; adrenaline is obviously an interesting thing, it gives you the opportunity to do a bit more than you would expect. We will see.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor both, it will be really, really close for tomorrow.<\/p>\n
“I don\u2019t want to close any doors before anybody tells me I have to.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Klopp confirmed midfielder Adam Lallana has resumed full training while Dejan Lovren is making progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n
Joe Gomez is also on the road to recovery from a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cDejan (Lovren) is much better than he was, pretty sure he can be involved against Leicester.<\/p>\n
“Adam Lallana trained yesterday. Joe Gomez is improving, we hope it will be quick from now on.”<\/p>\n
In other news, Klopp is optimistic Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will play a part at some stage this season \u2013 but teenage striker Rhian Brewster will now not be fit until the summer.<\/p>\n
Oxlade-Chamberlain is ahead of schedule in his return from ruptured knee ligaments and having initially been ruled out for the whole campaign, Klopp expects to see him back before May.<\/p>\n
Klopp revealed: “Last time (I spoke about it) I think I put a bit of pressure on the medical department but when I see him running, moving with the ball and all the stuff – which he is all doing already – it looks really good, promising, close to a return.<\/p>\n
“But, in the end, it’s so long out, (since) April against Roma – what a situation.<\/p>\n
“It will be fine; it looks completely without any problems in the moment, no swellings any more.<\/p>\n
“He can really work already on his fitness issues, which he’s had for a long time.<\/p>\n
“I think we will see him this season.”<\/p>\n
Brewster, who sustained knee and ankle injuries last January, was first expected to be fit in September, then December and now after further surgery he will only be considered for pre-season.<\/p>\n
He said: “(He is) not as far as he wants to be, for sure.<\/p>\n
“His running now looks much better since he had another little surgery.<\/p>\n
“It’s no problem, he has the time. I would say we don’t have to think about him before pre-season.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
