{"id":5891,"date":"2020-07-27T13:15:15","date_gmt":"2020-07-27T13:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sportsnewsforyou.com\/?p=5891"},"modified":"2020-07-27T13:15:15","modified_gmt":"2020-07-27T13:15:15","slug":"deadly-brown-snake-found-in-school-lunchbox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/googmn.com\/?p=5891","title":{"rendered":"Deadly brown snake found in school lunchbox"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A mother in Australia discovered one of the world&#8217;s deadliest snakes in her child&#8217;s lunchbox when she was packing food for school.<\/p>\n<p>The woman had already placed an apple and two snacks in the lunchbox when she spotted the baby eastern brown\u00a0snake hidden in the lid.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, she was standing\u00a0in her larder at her home in Hahndorf, a town near Adelaide in South Australia.\u00a0She quickly closed the box and contacted Rolly Burrell, a local\u00a0snake\u00a0catcher, who removed it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The mother] was pretty frightened,\u201d Mr Burrell told <em>The Adelaide Advertiser<\/em>. \u201cIt could have been bad if the\u00a0snake\u00a0bit the kid, there would have been some big problems\u2026 They [eastern brown\u00a0snakes] have venom within the first couple of weeks when they come out of the egg and this one was maybe two weeks old.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Suburban and residential sightings of deadly\u00a0snakes\u00a0are surprisingly common in Australia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure>\n<noscript><\/noscript><figcaption>\nEastern brown snake are considered the second most deadly in the world<br \/>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In September, a couple found an eastern brown\u00a0snake\u00a0in their bed. In January, dozens of eggs \u2013 believed to be from an eastern brown\u00a0snake\u00a0\u2013 were found buried in a sandpit at a school.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Australian Museum, the eastern brown\u00a0snake\u00a0can survive in areas disturbed by humans and \u201cis probably encountered more than any other type of\u00a0snake\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis species has the unfortunate distinction of causing more deaths from\u00a0snake\u00a0bite than any other species of\u00a0snake\u00a0in Australia,\u201d the museum\u2019s website says. \u201cMany bites have been a direct result of people trying to kill these\u00a0snakes\u00a0and could obviously have been avoided.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Burrell said he was receiving up to 60 calls a day &#8211; and \u201cthey\u2019re all baby brown\u00a0snakes\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see it all the time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdult\u00a0snakes\u00a0have up to 40 babies and they have got to go out and have their first feed. If they don\u2019t get their first feed before they hibernate they usually die. They\u2019re all roaming around now and they\u2019ve got about two and a half months before hibernation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Eastern brown snake\u00a0ranks as the second most venomous land snake on the planet, behind the more reclusive\u00a0Inland Taipan &#8211; which is also found in Australia.
