He opened the tournament with a pin of Taylor Curtis of Southwest Minnesota State in 0:58 and then followed with a pin of Matt Paulus of Upper Iowa in 6:06 to reach the semifinals. Bosch will face Nate Rodriguez of Ouachita Baptist in the semifinals on Sunday.<\/p>\nHoffner went 2-1 on the day to keep his hopes for qualifying for nationals alive. The Mahnomen, Minn., native lost to Josh Ballard of McKendree, 6-1 in the first round but came back with a 7-3 win over SMSU’s Patrick Kelley. Hoffner then followed with a 3-1 win over Upper Iowa’s Jordan Rinken to stay alive in the consolation bracket. Hoffner will face Dakota Head of Ouachita Baptist on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Four other Dragon wrestlers won matches in their respective classes but were eliminated. Senior Philippe Walker lost his first-round match at 141 pounds but came back with a 14-0 major-decision win over Northern State’s Tyler Frost. Walker was eliminated by Ouachita Baptist’s Josh Myers, 10-4.<\/p>\n
Senior Michael Joseph was pinned in the opening round at 174 but came back to pin Mary’s Jered Keller in 1:25. His tournament was ended by Luis Alba of McKendree (fall in 0:35). Senior Shawn Porter was 1-2 at 184, losing by fall in the first round before coming back with a 4-2 win over Mike Boyd of Central Missouri. He suffered an injury against Augustana’s Aero Amo and lost by default.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Nader Abdullatif opened the tournament with a 3-2 win over Upper Iowa at 285 pounds but lost his next two matches and eliminated.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Shane Novak (125), sophomore Isaac Novacek (149), sophomore Dan Murakami (165) and senior Chris Bascon (197) each finished 0-2 on the day and were eliminated.<\/p>\n
