Jennifer Dulos vanished May 24, and her body has not been found.

The move by Pattis is unprecedented in the state, according to the Courant. Fotis Dulos’ estate would be the defendant since he is now deceased.

“Mr. Dulos’ children should not be subjected to a lifetime coping with the fictional reality that their father murdered their mother in cold blood on the basis of baseless and rampant speculation,” the motion states.

As of 7:10 p.m. Thursday, state police had not yet received confirmation of Dulos’ death, Trooper 1st Class Christine Jeltema told Patch. She declined to comment.

Some legal observers don’t expect state prosecutors to go along with Pattis’ request, reports News 12 Connecticut’s Marissa Alter, who quoted one local attorney calling the motion a “fantasy.”

Additionally, Pattis filed a separate motion to preserve evidence from a Wednesday search of Fotis Dulos’ Farmington home that occurred a day after the suicide attempt.

Authorities found Fotis Dulos in a running vehicle in the garage of his Farmington home late Tuesday morning, the same day he was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court for an emergency bond hearing.

A note was found in the vehicle, and in it “he declared his innocence of the infamous and heinous crimes that the State has accused him of and claimed his lawyers have the evidence to prove it,” the motion states.

State police officials released the following statement about the search Thursday but did not mention the note or any other evidence investigators obtained:

“On January 29, 2020, detectives from the State Police Western District Major Crime Squad, executed a search warrant at 4 Jefferson Drive, Farmington, as it relates to the on-going murder investigation of Jennifer Farber Dulos. Farmington Police detectives were also on-hand in the furtherance of their separate investigation. The aforementioned search warrant has been sealed by court.

The Connecticut State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind the media and the public that the court-issued gag order is still in effect, which prevents us from commenting on the specifics of our investigation.

The Farmington Police Department is responsible for the investigation of the attempted suicide. Any inquires relating to the attempted suicide should be directed to Farmington Police Department.”

The Hartford Courant writes that the search did not yield any new clues about Jennifer Dulos’ whereabouts.

On Wednesday, Pattis called his client’s condition “dire.” Members of Dulos’ family reportedly had flown in from Greece to be at his bedside. Earlier this week, the Farbers, Jennifer’s family, released a statement of “no comment.”

Recently a Charlotte, North Carolina-certified financial planner had emerged as a monetary lifeline for Fotis Dulos.

Anna Curry, the woman at the center of Dulos’ bond issues, is described as his “best friend” in bond documents obtained by the Courant. She has signed hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of promissory notes to help bond him out of custody, the Courant said.

Despite the attempted suicide, the emergency bond hearing eventually took place Wednesday without Dulos in attendance. At the hearing, Judge Gary White signed a re-arrest warrant for Dulos and raised his bond from $6 million to $6.5 million.

Both moves were agreed-upon legal actions designed to allow Dulos’ family and Curry to visit him in the hospital, and guaranteed that he would be returned to Connecticut from New York if he had recovered.

What his death will mean for the bonds is not immediately known. Dulos’ ex-girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, and his friend, attorney Kent Mawhinney, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder; what his death will mean for their cases was not immediately known.

Jennifer and Fotis Dulos were in the midst of a contentious divorce and custody fight over their five children at the time of her disappearance.

Dulos and Curry reportedly worked together more than a decade ago at a New York consulting firm called Capgemini. In her LinkedIn profile, Curry says she is a “financial services executive with 18 years of experience in leadership and strategic impact positions.”

Pattis reportedly referred to the 42-year-old as a “loyal friend” to Dulos.

The Dulos case

FARMINGTON, CT — Fotis Dulos, the main suspect in the killing of his estranged wife, Jennifer Farber Dulos, has died, his attorney announced Thursday evening.
