2017 was a bumpy ride for a lot of reasons, but regardless of how spiteful an era maybe, for most people, there are books to confide in – don’t you think so? Whenever I see people reading books on a subway, on the train or in a café, I feel an immense amount of solace in their situation. I know, for a fact, in that moment when these people have their faces dug into a book, they are robbing the world of every opportunity that might distract them, take their peace away.<\/p>\n

Easily one of the best books of 2017, this one by Iranian-American poet Kaveh Akbar is an outstanding book of poetry. The deftness in the language is a steal. The book is majorly about finding beauty in pain, misery, addiction and loss.<\/p>\n
