Huddersfield Town supporters paid tribute to former manager David Wagner with a classy show of appreciation ahead of their match against Manchester City on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Scarves and signs bearing his resemblance were held up by the home fans, with one reading ‘David Wagner, always a Terrier’ while another simply said ‘Thank You’.<\/p>\n
Wagner left the Premier League’s bottom club by mutual consent on Tuesday after a run of nine matches without a win and just 11 points from 22 games.<\/p>\n
Having arrived in November 2015, Wagner steadied Huddersfield and maintained their position in the Championship before securing a remarkable promotion to the top flight in May 2017 after beating Reading on penalties in the play-offs.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know the term mutual consent is often a byword for the manager being sacked in professional football, but this is a truly joint decision,” chairman Dean Hoyle said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDavid has genuine love for Huddersfield and his foremost concern in our talks has been to establish what is best for the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d like to begin by thanking David for all he has achieved at Huddersfield Town over the last three-and-a-half years.<\/p>\n
