V\u00e9ritable “gueule” du cin\u00e9ma apparue dans plusieurs films de Quentin Tarantino, l\u2019acteur am\u00e9ricain Michael Parks est d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 77 ans.<\/p>\n
Eternel second r\u00f4le du cin\u00e9ma et de la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision, Michael Parks\u00a0nous a quitt\u00e9s aujourd\u2019hui \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 77 ans. Apr\u00e8s avoir fait ses classes au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 60 dans des s\u00e9ries phares telles que Les Incorruptibles, Perry Mason\u00a0ou encore Gunsmoke, Parks a tra\u00een\u00e9 pendant les deux d\u00e9cennies suivantes son physique de cowboy texan dans d\u2019innombrables productions, le temps d\u2019apparitions plus ou moins remarqu\u00e9es par le grand public.<\/p>\n
Mais la carri\u00e8re de cette “gueule” du cin\u00e9ma a alors connu un tournant inattendu durant les ann\u00e9es 90, tout d\u2019abord en d\u00e9crochant un r\u00f4le r\u00e9current dans la s\u00e9rie culte Twin Peaks\u00a0puis en incarnant le sh\u00e9rif Earl McGraw dans la sc\u00e8ne d\u2019ouverture d\u2019Une nuit en enfer. Grand fan du com\u00e9dien, Quentin Tarantino\u00a0lui avait \u00e9crit ce r\u00f4le sur mesure, qui fit de lui un acteur culte pour la jeune g\u00e9n\u00e9ration cin\u00e9phile.<\/p>\n
Devenu un acteur r\u00e9current chez Tarantino, qui l\u2019emploie doublement dans Kill Bill\u00a0puis Django Unchained\u00a0ainsi que dans le diptyque Grindhouse\u00a0co-r\u00e9alis\u00e9 avec Robert Rodriguez, Michael Parks collabore avec d\u2019autres cin\u00e9astes d\u2019envergure, tels que Ben Affleck\u00a0(Argo) et Andrew Dominik\u00a0(L\u2019assassinat de Jesse James par le l\u00e2che Robert Ford). Mais l\u2019essentiel de ses apparitions sont dans des navets \u00e0 petit budget, destin\u00e9s au march\u00e9 vid\u00e9o, auxquels il apporte d\u00e9sormais sa notorit\u00e9t\u00e9 relative.<\/p>\n
Kevin Smith, un autre de ses admirateurs, lui offre avec Red State\u00a0puis Tusk\u00a0ses deux derniers r\u00f4les marquants. Tr\u00e8s proche du com\u00e9dien, Kevin Smith a d\u2019ailleurs rendu hommage \u00e0 celui qu\u2019il surnomme sa “muse cin\u00e9matographique”<\/i>, au travers d\u2019un \u00e9mouvant message post\u00e9 sur son compte Instagram (voir ci-dessous).<\/p>\n I hate to report that my cinematic muse #michaelparks has passed away. Michael was, and will likely forever remain, the best actor I’ve ever known. I wrote both #RedState and @tuskthemovie FOR Parks, I loved his acting so much. He was, hands-down, the most incredible thespian I ever had the pleasure to watch perform. And Parks brought out the absolute best in me every time he got near my set. From the moment I saw him steal the opening scene of #fromdusktildawn at an advance screening at the Sunset 5 back in the mid-90’s, I said to @samosier “Could you imagine what it must be like to work with a Yoda of acting like that guy? I gotta write for him one day.” It took me 15 years but my dream came true on Red State (for which Parks won Best Actor at the @sitgesfestival) and then again years later with #tusk. Only Michael Parks could have delivered the line “Is man indeed a walrus at heart?” and make it scary as fuck. My favorite memory of Michael is watching him and #johnnydepp act with and at each other, like a couple of dueling wizards, in their shared scene in Tusk. Parks was in Heaven that day, sharing the screen with another brilliant actor and creating an unforgettable performance. He elevated any flick or TV show he was in and elevated every director he ever acted for. I was so fucking blessed to have worked with this bonafide genius. But really, I was just lucky to have known him at all. My heart goes out to James (Michael’s son), Oriana (Michael’s wife), Quentin Tarantino (Michael’s biggest fan) and any movie or music lover who was ever dazzled by the talents of Michael Parks.
