Dean Saunders has branded Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa \u2018disrespectful\u2019 and \u2018out of order\u2019 for \u2018spying\u2019 on his opponents\u2019 training sessions.<\/p>\n
The so-called ‘Spygate’ incident has been one of the most talked-about stories this week, after Bielsa admitted he sent a scout to watch Derby County train ahead of their Championship clash last Friday.<\/p>\n
The Argentine coach has faced a huge backlash over his actions, with the EFL launching a \u2018formal investigation\u2019 into the incident.<\/p>\n
But Bielsa surprised everyone by revealing on Wednesday that Leeds have watched ALL of their opponents\u2019 training sessions this season.<\/p>\n
In an impromptu press conference, Bielsa said he aimed to \u2018make it easier for the EFL investigation\u2019 by detailing the extent of his pre-match preparation \u2013 and revealing his staggeringly detailed analysis of every team in the Championship.<\/p>\n
Bielsa has admitted to spying on opposing teams throughout his coaching career, saying he feels he isn\u2019t doing his job properly if he doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n
But former football manager and ex-Derby striker Saunders remains unimpressed by the veteran\u2019s sneaky antics and says it goes against the \u2018code of conduct\u2019 in England.<\/p>\n
He also says Bielsa\u2019s level of analysis is nothing new, and that all managers do the same – even those in non-league.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody does it – what he\u2019s shown everyone yesterday, all managers do that,\u201d Saunders said on Thursday\u2019s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.<\/p>\n
\u201cSam Allardyce will have five or six analysts doing all that for him, he\u2019d sit down and they would condense it all and try to cover everything.<\/p>\n
“Even non-league clubs go into that much detail.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t go to the training ground and watch training sessions, though. There\u2019s a code of conduct.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can\u2019t stand on the other side of a fence watching the opposition train, you cant really do that.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not illegal, but it\u2019s not the done thing.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s disrespectful. It\u2019s bang out of order.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s doing great, the manager. Bielsa is doing great at Leeds and the team is doing great.<\/p>\n
