She goes on to explain the false stereotypes associated with the label.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2018You don\u2019t eat well. You don\u2019t work out. You couldn\u2019t care less about your body. You\u2019re insecure. You have no confidence.\u2019 And that is none of this,\u201d Graham says, referring to herself.<\/p>\n
Graham argued the same point in a TEDxBerkleeValencia talk she gave in 2015.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fashion industry may persist to label me as \u2018plus-size,\u2019 but I like to think of it as \u2018my size,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cCurvy models are becoming more and more vocal about the isolating nature of the term \u2018plus-size.\u2019 We are calling ourselves what we want to be called\u2014women, with shapes that are our own.\u201d<\/p>\n

She points to her second appearance in the SI <\/em>Swimsuit Issue in 2016\u2014when she was one of three cover stars\u2014as proof.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u201cSports Illustrated<\/em> decided to have curvy women not only in their magazine but on the cover of their magazine,\u201d Graham tells CBS Sunday Morning<\/em>. \u201cNow that means size diversity is here, and it\u2019s real, and it\u2019s not a trend.\u201d<\/p>\n But while modeling made her a household name, Graham doesn\u2019t recommend the career path when others ask her for advice.<\/p>\n \u201cI say to them, \u2018Who\u2014why would you want to become a model? Why would you want to be picked apart all the time?\u2019 \u201d she says. \u201c\u2018Why don\u2019t you go be the editor? Why not just strive to be, like, Anna Wintour? Or why not be a designer and tell models what to do all day?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
