Gary Lineker led the critics in slamming Cristiano Ronaldo for his ‘badly timed’ Tweet in the wake of Emiliano Sala’s disappearance.<\/p>\n
Guernsey Police have called off search and rescue operations for the Cardiff City striker after his plane disappeared over the British Channel on Monday evening.<\/p>\n
An extensive 15-hour search found objects floating in the water, but there was no sign of life and officials have since said it is unlikely anyone on board will have survived.<\/p>\n
After accepting a \u00a316.5million fine and a suspended sentence for avoiding tax in Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo decided to send out a Tweet from his personal account whilst on board a plane.<\/p>\n
The Tweet, which went out at 7.59pm on Tuesday, comes just hours after Guernsey Police confirmed they would be continuing their search for the Argentinean striker at sunrise.<\/p>\n
Quoting the Tweet and responding, Lineker wrote: “Not the day for this tweet. It really isn\u2019t.”<\/p>\n
As of 10.30pm on Tuesday it had earned 30,000 likes from equally annoyed Twitter users.<\/p>\n
Former Harlequins and England back Ugo Monye commented on the Tweet as well, simply saying: “He’s a d**k.”<\/p>\n
