{"id":1868,"date":"2019-09-21T09:13:01","date_gmt":"2019-09-21T09:13:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sportsnewsforyou.com\/?p=1868"},"modified":"2019-09-21T09:13:01","modified_gmt":"2019-09-21T09:13:01","slug":"hasenhuttl-apologises-to-hughton-for-handshake-delay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/googmn.com\/?p=1868","title":{"rendered":"Hasenhuttl apologises to Hughton for handshake delay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> The Southampton boss was keen to play down the incident and stressed it was a simple mistake <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Ralph Hasenhuttl apologised to opposite number Chris Hughton for not shaking his hand in the immediate aftermath of Southampton&#8217;s 1-0 win at Brighton and Hove Albion.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday&#8217;s victory at the Amex Stadium lifted Saints five points clear of the Premier League drop zone on a day in which Huddersfield Town became the first team to be relegated to the Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg&#8217;s goal early in the second period proved the difference as the visitors moved level on points with their opponents in the table thanks to a third win from four Premier League matches.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Hasenhuttl, who succeeded Mark Hughes as Saints boss in December, celebrated fiercely at the final whistle and acknowledged afterwards that Seagulls boss Hughton may have been offended.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I understand he was maybe a little bit angry with me,&#8221; Hasenhuttl said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I always forget everything when the final whistle goes, so I&#8217;m sorry. I was five seconds too late but then I came and shook their hands.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For us in our situation it&#8217;s very important to take this win against a tight opponent [in the table].
