Callum Hudson-Odoi must stay at Chelsea as he is a player the Premier League club needs, according to club legend Paul Canoville.<\/p>\n
The 18-year-old’s future has been arguably been the biggest transfer saga in the January window with Bayern Munich very interested in signing Hudson-Odoi.<\/p>\n
It has left the boyhood Chelsea fan with a tricky decision on whether to gamble and move to Germany in the hope of getting more first-team opportunities.<\/p>\n
However, the Blues have offered their starlet a new contract worth \u00a370,000 a week for the player who has made just nine appearances for the senior team this season.<\/p>\n
And Canoville, who played at Stamford Bridge between 1981-86, believes Hudson-Odoi doesn’t really want to leave – but says the club most show the “talented” winger he has a bright future there.<\/p>\n
Speaking to talkSPORT’s Jim White, Canoville said: “Hudson-Odoi is a player Chelsea need.<\/p>\n
“We NEED that player. I\u2019ve seen the guy play under Jody Morris [Chelsea’s former Under-18 head coach] and he is talented.<\/p>\n
“He\u2019s frightening and when he comes on he can do things.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey [Chelsea] know the talent of the player so they\u2019re going to offer him [a new contract].<\/p>\n
“His agent is going to sort that out for him.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe doesn\u2019t really want to go, he wants to play. He wants to be starting the game and playing.<\/p>\n
