Kevin Prince-Boateng is closing in on a surprise loan move to Barcelona from Italian side Sassuolo.<\/p>\n
The former Tottenham and Portsmouth midfielder will join the Catalan giants initially on loan, for a fee believed to be in the region of \u00a31.75m.<\/p>\n
Should they want to make the deal permanent they will have an option to buy the 31-year-old for \u00a37m in the summer.<\/p>\n
Sassuolo general director Giovanni Carnevali is expected to fly to Barcelona on Monday to conclude the formalities of the deal.<\/p>\n
Boateng only joined Sassuolo over the summer, and has scored four goals in 13 appearances to date.<\/p>\n
His previous spell in La Liga was a successful one with Las Palmas in the 2016\/17 campaign.<\/p>\n
The quick and dynamic forward hit double figures in his 28 appearances for the Spanish outfit.<\/p>\n
Boateng’s colourful career has already seen him play for the likes of Hertha Berlin, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke and AC Milan.<\/p>\n
