Morning talk radio has a real reputation\u00a0for being over the top. But\u00a0one Philadelphia station\u00a0took the\u00a0wacky, zany, sound-effects filled\u00a0world of radio to an entirely new\u2014and ridiculously offensive\u2014level.\u00a0<\/p>\n
For months, an individual calling himself \u201cDwyane From Swedesboro\u201d had been dialing\u00a0into radio host\u00a0Mike Missanelli\u2019s show. Describing\u00a0himself as a black man who was often \u201chorny for white women,\u201d Dwayne faced\u00a0frequent paternity test problems, according to Deadspin.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\nDwyane would have been one of the show\u2019s most avid fans and callers\u2014except for the fact that he\u00a0never actually existed in the first place. As CrossingBroad and Philly.com report, Dwyane was actually a character made and up and perpetuated over the last two years\u00a0by the show\u2019s own white male producer,\u00a0Pat Egan.<\/p>\n
Egan\u2019s\u00a0lie went so deep that he stole a man\u2019s photo from the internet and used it across multiple social media accounts, including\u00a0Amazon, where he often reviewed products, and Twitter, where he wrote frequently\u00a0offensive tweets under his pen name.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Egan\u2019s lie was apparently known to several staffers at the station, according to CrossingBroad, except for the show\u2019s very host,\u00a0Missanelli. During the opener for his show on Tuesday Missanelli said:<\/p>\n
\nFor his part, Egan copped to the lie on Twitter\u00a0without apology, simply stating he picked a persona who was the \u201cexact opposite\u201d of himself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
According to Missanelli, Egan has not and will not be punished. Egan has called Kyle Scott, the reporter for CrossingBroad who broke the story, an \u201cambulance chaser.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Several other radio hosts across the nation have chimed in on the very low brow bit, saying they may do or something offensive once in awhile, but faking callers is not one of them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
However, at least one host, former Fanatic host Sean Brace, noted in his podcast,\u00a0\u201cI feel like people are like, \u2018I can\u2019t believe there\u2019s fake callers.\u2019\u00a0Once in a while you\u2019ve got to punch up somebody to rile your host up. \u2026 It\u2019s about entertainment. There\u2019s nothing wrong with that.\u201d<\/p>\n
