Ospreys supporters have been handed a significant boost after Wales international back-row Jac Morgan agreed a new contract at the region.<\/p>\n
The length of the 23-year-old’s extension has not been specified, but with other players recently confirming their exits, it is positive news for the side.<\/p>\n
Morgan, who made his Ospreys debut in 2021, has impressed for both region and country, making nine appearances for Wales since his bow in 2022.<\/p>\n
“Jac personifies what we look for in a player. For his age, he’s a highly influential player on the pitch,” said a happy Ospreys head coach Toby Booth.<\/p>\n
“His attitude, coupled with his ability, have both allowed him to excel for the Ospreys. We’re looking forward to seeing him progress and grow with the team.<\/p>\n
“With everything that has gone on in the last few months, it is great to announce some real positive news for the Ospreys fanbase and for Welsh rugby as a whole.”<\/p>\n
Indeed, it’s been a hard period for the Ospreys as Joe Hawkins and Ethan Roots are set to leave while Tiaan Thomas-Wheeler has already departed.<\/p>\n
But this news will please their supporters as Morgan is a crowd favourite who also still has plenty of years in front of him to improve as a back-row.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Scarlets have also done excellent business after they announced the signing of Wales international Ioan Lloyd, who joins from Bristol Bears.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old fly-half, who can also play at full-back or on the wing, will be returning to Welsh rugby after spending the last four years in England.<\/p>\n
A former pupil of Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf in Cardiff, Lloyd was part of the Cardiff Blues pathway before moving to Clifton College and then Bristol.<\/p>\n
He became the Bears’ youngest-ever player in the Premiership when, aged 18, he made a try-scoring appearance as a replacement in a game against Bath.<\/p>\n
“Ioan is a high-quality player with a huge amount of talent, a ball player with the ability to break the line and take on defences,” said Scarlets head coach Dwayne Peel.<\/p>\n
“He is a player who we feel will fit well with the way we look to play here, and we’re looking forward to welcoming him in the summer. He is a young man, and we’re looking forward to seeing him grow in a Scarlets shirt.”<\/p>\n
