Ivanka Trump seems to be operating in an alternative universe from her father. As a senior adviser to the president of the United States, Ivanka has taken on a large, albeit nebulous, role in the cabinet. One issue she has said she\u2019s focused on is women in the workplace.<\/p>\n
Given her father\u2019s stances on the issues she claims to support, Ivanka is clearly working for the wrong team.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While her father has become the\u00a0undisputed leader\u00a0of the conservative movement, Ivanka does not refer to herself as a Republican. Over the past decade, the\u00a0majority of her political donations\u00a0have gone to Democrats, and she and her husband even hosted a fundraiser for Cory Booker. Ivanka prefers to be noncommittal when speaking about her political leanings. \u201cLike many of my fellow millennials, I do not consider myself categorically Republican or Democrat,\u201d she has said.<\/p>\n
When her father had a hard time condemning neo-Nazis, Ivanka spoke out against them.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n\nIvanka has positioned herself as a champion for women in the workplace, while her father seems dead set on rolling back protections.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After Oprah Winfrey\u2019s\u00a0empowering #MeToo speech at the Golden Globes, Ivanka praised her and asked everyone to \u201ccome together\u201d to end sexual harassment.<\/p>\n
\nIvanka may claim she supports #MeToo, but she refuses to even acknowledge her father\u2019s\u00a0litany of accusers. Over 20 women have made accusations against Donald Trump, and there\u2019s tape of him admitting to grabbing women inappropriately, but Ivanka seems happy to pretend that\u2019s not the case.<\/p>\n
\nOn Feb. 26, on \u201cToday,\u201d Peter Alexander asked Ivanka about the multiple allegations against her father. \u201cDo you believe your father\u2019s [sexual misconduct] accusers?\u201d Alexander asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s a pretty inappropriate question to ask a daughter if she believes the accusers of her father when he\u2019s affirmatively stated there\u2019s no truth to it,\u201d she said. \u201cI believe my father. I know my father. So I think I have that right as a daughter to believe my father.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s responses like these that have people\u00a0questioning Ivanka\u2019s claim that she\u2019s an advocate for women. By unquestionably supporting Donald Trump, she\u2019s become\u00a0just another person shielding a powerful man from his many reported actions against women.<\/p>\n
