Sunderland defender Lamine Kon\u00e9 has this evening completed a season-loan move to RC Strasbourg after two and a half tumultuous years on Wearside.<\/p>\n
The Ivorian international-who began his career at Ligue 2 side Ch\u00e2teauroux, followed by six years at Lorient- made 69 appearances in total for Sunderland, scoring 3 goals.<\/p>\n
Despite a troubled spell at The Stadium of Light in which he experienced successive relegations in 2017 and 2018, Kon\u00e9 was\u2013 only two years ago- the subject of an \u00a318m bid from Everton, which was eventually rejected by Sunderland.<\/p>\n
Kon\u00e9 expressed his delight in sealing the loan move to the Stade de la Meinau : \u201cI am very happy to come to Strasbourg in Ligue 1\u2026I was seduced by the enthusiastic speech of the coach, Thierry Laurey. I also know that there is an incredible atmonsphere at the Meinau stadium. I cannot wait to start here\u201d. <\/p>\n
