Witherspoon\u2019s survival story could give hope to others stuck in abusive relationships.<\/em><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n There are many reasons why people become stuck in abusive relationships. Victims are often trapped in an invisible cage of fear, violence, psychological manipulation, and financial control that prevents them from believing there\u2019s hope on the other side.\u00a0<\/p>\n In a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey and Mindy Kaling, actress Reese Witherspoon opened up about how leaving an abusive relationship helped her realize her life\u2019s ambitions. Stories of survival from public figures like Witherspoon can help those stuck in abusive relationships to seek help and find hope.<\/p>\n On an episode of the \u201cOprah\u2019s SuperSoul Conversations\u201d podcast, Winfrey asked Witherspoon and Kaling, \u201cWhat\u2019s the most difficult decision you\u2019ve had to make to fulfill your destiny?\u201d Witherspoon had a brave response: \u201cFor me, probably leaving an abusive relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWas it physically? Verbally? Both?\u201d Oprah asked. \u201cPsychological, verbal, um, and a uh. Yeah,\u201d Witherspoon responded. \u201cA line got drawn in the sand and it got crossed,\u201d Witherspoon said, explaining the moment she knew she had to leave. \u201cMy brain just switched. I knew it was going to be very difficult, but I just couldn\u2019t go any further. It was profound \u2015 and I was young, really young.\u201d<\/p>\n Leaving the abusive relationship gave Witherspoon a power she didn\u2019t expect \u2014 one that would help propel her to new heights in her career.
