SHOULD THE REPUBLIC of Ireland\u2019s Euro 2020 play-off against Slovakia go ahead later this month, Enda Stevens is unlikely to feature.<\/p>\n
A calf problem is set to rule Ireland\u2019s first-choice left-back out of the fixture, which is scheduled for 26 March in Bratislava.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has revealed that Stevens suffered a recurrence of the injury which forced him off during his club\u2019s Premier League fixtures against Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion.<\/p>\n
\u201cEnda will be out for a couple of weeks,\u201d Wilder told reporters this morning. \u201cIt\u2019s disappointing from Enda\u2019s point of view.\u201d<\/p>\n
The game against Slovakia has been designated as a behind-closed-doors fixture due to the ongoing spread of coronavirus.<\/p>\n
\u201cEnda is a big loss,\u201d said Stevens\u2019 club and international colleague John Egan. \u201cTo not have him for these games and the Ireland games is going to be tough. He\u2019s been in brilliant form this season.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
