In the nine years since he left office, the George W. Bush presidency hasn\u2019t been regarded very favorably.\u00a0A recent survey of bipartisan scholars ranks him at 30\u00a0out of the 44 men who\u2019ve held the office.<\/p>\n
And when he left office, the public wasn\u2019t too happy with him either. Bush\u2019s final\u00a0approval rating was at a staggeringly low \u2014 around 27%. At the time, common sense dictated that Bush would go down as one of the worst presidents of all time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
These days, however, all common sense has disappeared. In its place is President Donald Trump, who has accomplished the once unimaginable achievement of making Bush seem like a pretty darn good leader \u2014 and Bush\u00a0knows it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Although he prefers to remain quiet about his political opinions in retirement, a contributing editor for The National Journal\u00a0reports that Bush\u00a0is fond of saying how Trump,\u00a0\u201cSorta makes me look pretty good, doesn\u2019t it?\u201d<\/p>\n
But should it? Sure, the Trump presidency has already ratcheted up the national debt, empowered racists, and drastically decreased America\u2019s moral standing in the world. But does mean we should forgive Bush for such things like invading Iraq under false pretenses, botching the response to Hurricane Katrina, or leading us into the worse economy since the Great Depression?\u00a0<\/p>\n
Either way,\u00a0Trump appears to be on the road to joining some of\u00a0the worst presidents in U.S. history, but he still has a long way to go before making\u00a0Bush \u201clook pretty good.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
