RISING DUBLIN FOOTBALL star Con O\u2019Callaghan steered Cuala to the semi-finals of the AIB Leinster club SHC with a whopping 4-3 haul at Parnell Park.<\/p>\n
The speedy attacker featured in this year\u2019s Championship for back to back title winners Dublin though is a quality hurler too as he displayed again.<\/p>\n
A dual Leinster finalist at minor level in 2014, O\u2019Callaghan racked up 3-3 in the first-half alone to all but kill off Borris-Kilcotton.<\/p>\n
It was a tough first foray into their province for the Laois representatives who only won their first county title recently after amalgamating in 2011.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Callaghan, the only sub used by Cuala in the county final, was a late addition to the lineup and wasted no time in getting on the score trail.<\/p>\n
He hit goals after eight and 10 minutes and added a third before the break to put Mattie Kenny\u2019s men 14 clear at that stage, 3-11 to 0-6.<\/p>\n
Cuala were favourites to win and a clear path has opened up for them to return to the provincial decider after losing there to Oulart-The Ballagh last year.<\/p>\n
Free-taker David Treacy and Cian Waldron contributed 10 points between them before substituted while O\u2019Callaghan was also withdrawn late on.<\/p>\n

But not before the man who hit 1-7 for Dublin in this year\u2019s Leinster U-21 football final win over Kildare added his fourth goal.<\/p>\n
That came in the 41st minute and knocked the stuffing out of the Laois men who had raised a mini-rally with three points on the trot before that.<\/p>\n
Borris-Kilcotton did at least hold O\u2019Callaghan scoreless after that fourth goal and actually won the second-half in scoring terms, adding a late goal from Patrick Whelan who finished with 1-2.<\/p>\n
But Cuala advance to the last four of the provincial competition and will face St Mullins of Carlow on\u00a0November 20\u00a0in Carlow.<\/p>\n
