{"id":10114,"date":"2022-04-03T22:35:16","date_gmt":"2022-04-03T22:35:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/googmn.com\/?p=10114"},"modified":"2022-04-03T22:35:16","modified_gmt":"2022-04-03T22:35:16","slug":"its-safe-to-say-its-changed-ladies-football-as-a-whole-lidl-and-lgfas-10-year-e10-million-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/googmn.com\/?p=10114","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;It&#8217;s safe to say it&#8217;s changed ladies football as a whole&#8217; &#8211; Lidl and LGFA&#8217;s 10-year \u20ac10 million partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A DECADE OF #SeriousSupport.<\/p>\n<p>An incredible journey since the infamous Ladyball ad.<\/p>\n<p>The Ladies Gaelic Football Association [LGFA] and Lidl Ireland today announced a four-year contract extension, bringing the successful partnership through to the conclusion of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n<p>Lidl, the LGFA\u2019s official retail partner since 2016, have pledged to invest an additional\u00a0\u20ac5 million, bringing the total investment to \u20ac10 million across 10 years of sponsorship.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s news came after the Association confirmed details of a comprehensive live-streaming platform yesterday, with over 100 live games that are not being shown live on TG4 available to watch through a subscription service.<\/p>\n<p>A season ticket that covers all games in 2022 is \u20ac50, with a weekend pass \u20ac10 and a single game available for \u20ac5. There is also the option to buy single games after they have concluded for \u20ac3 each.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These are two massive steps in two days for ladies football, with the game growing exponentially in recent years, on and off the field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s still growing,\u201d Galway star Nicola Ward tells <em>The42<\/em>. \u201cEach year you come back, Lidl are coming up with something new.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if the games aren\u2019t on TG4, you can watch the stream online. For video analysis and that for other teams, you can look back on everything. The double-headers; both Leinster finals being in Croke Park is massive. People now have it in their homes. It\u2019s brilliant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As well as the investment of another \u20ac5 million, Lidl have committed to focusing on further progress in the areas of attendance and participation.<\/p>\n<p>They say they will help fill Croke Park to full capacity at the TG4 All-Ireland finals by 2025 \u2013 the record attendance is 56,114 from 2019 \u2013 while plans are in place to increase participation and break the trend of drop-out rates among girls by investing in their already-profitable programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s safe to say it\u2019s changed Ladies Gaelic football as a whole, even just the promotion,\u201d Dublin ace Carla Rowe says of the Lidl partnership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know there\u2019s debate around the filling Croke Park, but the live-streaming and the posters and all that you are seeing are huge for young girls coming up through the sport, having role models.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe support has been massive and it\u2019s great to hear that they\u2019re signing on for another four years. That really wasn\u2019t possible four years ago, because it wasn\u2019t really being broadcast anywhere. You couldn\u2019t see a ladies game online, you would have to physically go to the game and that wasn\u2019t always an option for a lot of young people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI honestly think the development that we\u2019ve seen in the sport has been down to how much it\u2019s been pushed, broadcast and publicised. You can tune into Facebook and watch any of the matches this year because they\u2019re all being live-streamed.
